First of all,Assalamualaikum to the reader….This week is the second class that I having before the Chinese New Year. I feel so glad, because this week has many activities during every class session. But for this blog, I just want to share my activities in Critical Literacy class which is COM 4623. This class actually conducted by Madam Yaya. She is very nice and friendly teacher. I likes to hear her voice because it sounds so cute…he..he..he..
Along her classes I had learnt about the article of newspaper. It is actually from the daily newspaper. The full title of this article is Convicted Killer Back at Work. This article is all about a nurse who is Deborah Perry the murder of an Australian nurse working in Saudi Arabia. The incident created an international uproar when two British nurses were convicted and then released after payment of money to the victims’ family. After the helping from the King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. But, from the visual literacy that I see, I had analyzed she is actually optimistic and innocent women. I think she is not doing the stupid thing to her patient. Besides, I had learnt how to make a draft for the article also had to know how to analyze an article till dive through. According to the draft, I had learnt ten elements of newspaper article. First of all, about the topic. Then, it is followed by contents and the source. What I am understand from this point is who is the the murder, when it is happend, when did it happend and what let up to the event. Then the source is from the daily newspaper. In addition, audience is the person who is the target that will read this article. Hence, what I am understood from the rhetorical function is the speech acts applies to the article. Is it informing, advising and so on. Not just that, the purpose is what the writer is trying to do to the reader. It is to give some advise to the reader. Then the seven elements is the perspective. From my point of view. it is the the writer perception towards the issue. The other elements is positioning is, the way in which participant are constructed through the text. Besides, about the impact is the impact that the reader get after read the article and last but not least is visual literacy. It is one of the attraction that the writer use to attrack the reader and understand what she or he want to sent sent the message.
Hence, for the next class Madam ask to make a presentation. The presentation is discussed about stories and facts. The first group who are Adini, Epa and Slay. They actually present that topic. Then, for the second group discuss about Rules and Regulation. What I am understood from this topic is how to differentiate how to write the report writing. It is different by the different age and sex. Girl is more close minded and boy’s imagination is wider. Unluckily, in the second topic, I didn’t understood yet about the topic…but I will study it back tyo make sure I will understood that.I think that is all this week..happy holiday!!!!!
